acheiving the highest possible grade
Hi, I'm in year 9 but about to start GCSE nobody in my family have acheived A* but only A's so I'm wondering what you need to do to acheive an A* . Could it be something to do with lack of varied vocabulary? Or is it to do with lack of PEA? Thank you
what is PEA? all i know is PEE (point evidence explain) SPEED dis is for essay stuff, (Signpost, point, evidence, explain, develop) FOREST dis is for persuasive writing ( facts as opinions, forgot O, Rhetorical questions, Emotive language, Superlative ( basically its the highest form of a word eg big bigger biggest, biggest is the superlative here) forgot T iswell LOL but still, + it depends on your exam board, eg AQA and Edexcel have SIMILAR specifications but not all is same, so i suggest just to have a wide variety of vocabulary, be able to expllore and explain stuff that are not so obvious, point out evidence and explain what that evidence has on the reader, ( for max grades try and explore and explain what a word or two has on the reader, not literally the word, but in context to the quote u are picking out, explore what effect that word has on the reader IN that sentence, question, etc. and be able to develop your paragraph as much as possible, a good paragragh would be to quote a word, and explain the effect of that word IN the sentence has, in about 7 lines (normal size paper a4). im in year 10 doing double award :)
Just practice a lot and it will be a piece of cake L
Thank you sooooo much for your help trust me you've saved me from alot of stress and PEA for me is point, evidence and analysis Thanks again
oh but what do you mean by signpost?
well your post that u wrote is confusing im still stuck on it
... other words still confused.... dont understand
My biggest tip for the top grades would be alternative vocabulary. If your writing something down such as: The writer wrote this because.... Change that to: The writer has emphasised this point because...
Useful words would be: convey, potray, emphasise, evokes, exposes
All those will help you to vary how you start each point of you PEA
This is for unit 1 and 2 of literature (dont know which course you are doing but hope it kind of helps)
