Answer

There is the ‘withering grass’ and the bee searching ‘in vain’ for flowers as he can’t find any that have ‘bloomed’ (newly blossomed) so it is sad and weary as it has nothing to help it sustain life and give it purpose. The summer is hot and dry and the land is lacking fertility. This is emphasised further by the quail (a pheasant-like bird) and the corn crying ‘wet my foot’ as they desperately need rain water to help them grow and survive.
