He has purpose and that he knows what he want s to say and write, but he can’t do this and this causes him stress in ‘a broken sleep’.

This best shows how he is struggling to express himself well and say what he want to say. It is not as if he can’t be poetic, as this poem is a good example of expression working well, it is just that he can’t say what he really want s to say.
