There is a sense that the poem is saying that the world of work can be unfair and very judgemental and when applying for a job sometimes you have no chance of getting it, not through your own fault, but because of the attitude of the person interviewing you. Maybe this is an experience that the poet has had. The poem is satirical and humorous and not meant to be taken too seriously.
