The examiner is looking for you to show that you understand the concept of prejudice and racism and also that you understand the type of society in which the novel is set.

Plan

1 – Introduction

 What are you going to do? You are going to consider the Tom Robinson case and how this case highlight prejudice and prejudice attitudes in small town society.

2 – The Case

Explore the case. DO NOT narrate what happens but explore why the case is important and how and why it highlights prejudice.

3 - Prejudice

Select examples of the prejudice society in Maycomb, consider why the town is prejudice and how the case brings this prejudice to the surface.

You should also consider how Atticus is not prejudice and how his role in the case highlights his difference in character

4 – Conclusion

Come to a firm conclusion how is prejudice shown?

Why is it shown?

How does the case highlight prejudice attitudes?
