Answer

The examiner is looking for you to show that you understand how and where dramatic tension is created in the novel.

You will be expected to select scenes such as the children running up To Boo’s door, the court room scene and when the children are attacked by Bob.

You will have to look at the language and imagery Harper Lee uses to create this dramatic tension. PEE will be especially important and you will have to use relevant quotations throughout.

What are you going to do? You are going to consider how Harper Lee uses dramatic tension throughout the novel.

You are best to treat these two sections as one long section consisting of many paragraphs which use PEE.

You need to select at least two scenes which create dramatic tension and analyse them.

You must analyse the scene sin detail and use PEE throughout.

You will be expected to look at language and imagery throughout.

Consider dramatic tension across the novel and how it is used across the novel.

Why it is used?

What is the effect of its use?

 5 – Conclusion

Come to a firm conclusion sum up your analysis to explain how and where Harper Lee uses dramatic tension throughout the novel.
