‘today I am going to change the world’ (line 10) a definite sense of power that she is going to do something] powerful and dramatic.

‘I pull the chain/ I see that it is good’ (line 13/14) has echoes of the Bible ‘and God created the heaven and the earth and he saw the light and said it was good’ etc so she feels like she has become a god with the power to create life and, in this case, take life away.

‘I breathe out talent on the glass’ (line 8) the talent is just her breath, but she sees this as being very important and that she is full of talent inside that can be breathed out in the form of breath.

Why? – well she feels that no one likes her

‘ They don’t appreciate my autograph’ (line 16) when she goes to sign on at the job centre, she still feels like a star, but they don’t see her that way.

‘I dial the radio and tell the man he’s talking to a superstar. He cuts me off.’ (lines 17 – 19) she feels ignored by the man, as if she is not worth anything to him and he doesn’t like her.
