Answer

The poem is formally structured with 6 three-line stanzas which have a loose rhyme scheme (“moors/door”, “tune/boom”, “fear/tears” and some internal rhyme “occur/blur”). The irregular metre is interrupted by many pauses, creating a slow and rather jerky rhythm as of disconnected statements. This reflects that unsettling life that the child has had and the awkward subject matter.

Each stanza opens with a statement: “Nobody hurt you”, “Your questions were answered”, “Nobody forced you”, “What you recall are impressions” and “Nobody sent you away”. The final stanza opens with a question, which is short and too the point: “What does it matter now?”
