He thinks when they shriek it’s as if he’s ‘poisoned the dogs and vaulted the ditches’ ‘crossed the lawns’ ‘forced the door of one of the porches’ and ‘lifted the gift of fire from the burning torches’ Does this show that he has trespassed on their land and tried to steal from them? Even though it is only the fire form their torches that he has stolen, it is still theft.
