The examiner is looking for you to show that you understand the feelings and characters in two stories.

You will have to COMPARE two stories using feelings as your focus.

For example ‘Snowdrops’ deals with feelings of loss, fear and grief.

Plan

1 – Introduction

What are you going to do?

You are going to compare the feelings shown in two of the short stories.

You are going to focus on the feelings shown and how they are shown.

2 – Feelings

What feelings are dealt with in your two stories?

Select examples which show the feelings which are dealt with in the stories.

Remember to use P.E.E/P.Q.D

3 - How feelings are shown

Using the examples you selected above now look at how feelings are shown. Consider characters language and actions consider how characters interact and consider the description of characters which show their feelings.

4 – Compare

Compare how feelings are shown in both stories. How do the stories deal with feelings?

How are they the same? How are they different? What makes them similar and different?

5 – Conclusion

Come to a firm conclusion using your analysis of the two stories sum up how feelings are shown.
