Integrated Services Digital Network is a service provided by companies such as British Telecom to enable ordinary telephone lines to carry digital signals. A device called an ISDN terminal adapter is required. It allows several digital signals to be sent along the same wire so that the user can make a phone call, and send or receive data at the same time.
