Classicism

Classicism was a long-term movement, commonly uniting themes such as symmetry, cleanliness, simplicity and elegance executive to perfection. The word classic comes from the Latin “belonging to a class or division” and later “of the highest class”.

Classic portraits and art schools would commonly improve the artist’s use of perspective to seek the closes thing to realism. This was reflected most in terms of marble sculpture, where the human form was made as perfect as possible.

The Classical movement is seen as more of a series of movements, with many seen in ancient times, and revivals of technique and perspective in post medieval and renaissance portraits and carvings.
