Neo-Classicism
Neo-classicism was a movement that involved architecture, visual arts and clothing. The main idea behind neo classicism is taking inspiration from the ancient Greeks and Romans in particular to create awe-inspiring works.
As a visual art movement artists brought back the use of sculpture and ornate carving as well as pottery based on the vases and other clay pots of the Ancient Greeks. Whilst painting soon used the accuracy of a pencil and charcoal to bring details to life.
Engravings and etchings became increasingly popular during this time and meant works could be mass-produced and much more lucrative than the one-off pieces of the time, giving birth to the various styles of print and Intaglio.
