Ministerial Approval

Where legislative power is delegated to bodies other than Ministers, the enabling Act usually makes Ministerial approval an essential part of the legislative process. This is the case with the powers given to local authorities under the Local Government Act 1972 and most of the other powers listed at the beginning of this page. The Minister in turn is answerable to Parliament for his decision to give or withhold approval.
