There are a number of examples of sounds used in the poem to accentuate the violence of nature.

Eg ‘blows full blast’ (line 6/7) This is alliteration, with the hard ‘b’ sound creating a sense of violence, accentuating the power of the storm.

'Blast', 'exploding', 'flung', 'spits' are examples of onomatopoeia all adding to the violent nature of the storm.
