Describing Where You Live 

• Ich wohne in einer Stadt. – I live in a city.
• Mein Dorf ist klein und ruhig. – My village is small and quiet.
• Ich wohne auf dem Land. – I live in the countryside.
• Meine Stadt liegt im Süden von England. – My town is in the south of England.
• Ich wohne in einem Vorort von London. – I live in a suburb of London.
• Meine Gegend ist sauber und freundlich. – My area is clean and friendly.

What There is in the Area

• Es gibt viele Geschäfte. – There are lots of shops.
• Meine Stadt hat einen schönen Park. – My town has a beautiful park.
• In meiner Gegend gibt es ein großes Einkaufszentrum. – In my area, there is a big shopping centre.
• Es gibt leider keine Kinos. – Unfortunately, there are no cinemas.

Talking About Transport

Describing the Advantages & Disadvantages

• Meine Stadt ist sehr lebendig, aber manchmal zu laut. – My town is very lively but sometimes too noisy.
• Auf dem Land gibt es weniger Umweltverschmutzung. – In the countryside, there is less pollution.
• Ein Nachteil meines Wohnortes ist, dass es wenig los ist. – A disadvantage of my local area is that there is not much going on.

Describing Environmental Issues

Describing Past Experiences in Your Area

Foundation Tier – Basic Phrases

• Letzte Woche bin ich mit meinen Freunden ins Einkaufszentrum gegangen. – Last week, I went to the shopping centre with my friends.
• Ich habe den Park besucht. – I visited the park.
• Ich bin mit dem Bus in die Stadt gefahren. – I took the bus into town.

Higher Tier – More Advanced Phrases

• Gestern gab es ein Straßenfest in meiner Stadt. – Yesterday, there was a street festival in my town.
• Ich habe neulich an einer Umweltaktion teilgenommen. – Recently, I took part in an environmental campaign.
• Ich habe mich über den Lärm in meiner Gegend beschwert. – I complained about the noise in my area.

Foundation Tier – Basic Phrases

Opinion Phrases

Foundation Tier – Basic Opinions

• Ich mag meine Stadt, weil es viel zu tun gibt. – I like my town because there is a lot to do.
• Ich finde mein Dorf langweilig. – I find my village boring.
• Meine Gegend ist toll, weil sie sauber und freundlich ist. – My area is great because it is clean and friendly.
• Ich mag es nicht, weil es zu laut ist. – I don’t like it because it is too noisy.

Higher Tier – More Advanced Opinions

• Meiner Meinung nach ist das Leben in der Stadt aufregender als auf dem Land. – In my opinion, life in the city is more exciting than in the countryside.
• Ich denke, dass mein Wohnort viele Vorteile hat, aber auch einige Nachteile. – I think that my place of residence has many advantages but also some disadvantages.
• Ich bin der Meinung, dass meine Stadt moderner werden sollte. – I am of the opinion that my town should become more modern.
