Algebraic proof

After studying this section, you will be able to:

  • understand simple algebraic proof
  • use algebra to prove simple statements

Using algebra in proof

Given any precise logical statement, a proof of that statement is a sequence of logically correct steps which shows that the statement is true.

In Algelbraic proof we show that a result is true for X, and providing no arithmetic rules have been broken, it is true for any number subject to the original boundaries set on X - e.g. it must be a postive whole number.
